Am I being a jerk to my friend?
Hi, all.
First of all, I wanna say that I'm not really a fan of putting people down for their subject choices. Other than English and Japanese, my other 2 A Levels are 'easy' so I'm not really in a position to judge what other people are studying.
So, I have a friend who does English Language on its own whilst I do combined (Lang/Lit) and I've found out today that he told some of my other friends that I do the 'fake' English as its the combined A Level? He also tells me often that he wishes he did combined as he thinks he'd get A's or As in it, as opposed to B's. He also said to my other friends that he's tired of me flexing my grades from mocks (which I don’t do lmfao, I just say what I got after my exams as everyone does) when I do the 'easier' English. Now, I've kinda avoided pushing back against him when he says this to me because I kinda just thought in my head that he was mad at himself for not doing either Lit or combined because both are generally seen as more difficult that Lang on its own but I'm *kinda reaching my limit for blatant disrespect now, so I just messaged him today just saying that he isn't even required to read or analyse full-length books in Language so to please stop talking like he'd get good grades in Lang/Lit when he probably has no idea how to analyse a text. I offered him the book that our next mock is on and told him he's more than welcome to read it and sit the paper for me if he's that confident.
I'm not even trying to be an asshole, but he's kinda just hating on me for no reason. He's constantly downplaying my workload when I complain about having to do 40 poems by saying that I don't (we do!) and trying to say that Language on its own is more difficult, which I know for a fact (sorry) that it just isn't.
