Underclocking DDR5-6600 to DDR5-6000?

Forgive my lack of understanding, but I've only just scratched the surface of overclock, especially RAM.

Most of this was brought on because I'm looking to invest in a Ryzen 7950X3D.

Apparently the best timing for the 7950X3D is: - DDR5-6000 CL30-38-38-38-96-96

Currently I'm upgrading from a measly Ryzen 3600X. My upgrade cadence is usually: - GPU - CPU - RAM

Because RAM is last on the list, I typically go big so that I don't need to upgrade it until much later.

My goal for this 7950X3D build was go to with: - 128GB (4x32GB) DDR5-6600 (maybe even DDR5-6800?)

So to my question: Is it possible to downclock DDR5-6600 or DDR5-6800 to 6000 MHz and achieve similar or better timings?

RAM overclocking has been a bit of an enigma for me, especially because tighter timings aren't always better (?).

While I might not be achieving the full potential of the RAM, it will allow me to bring it up with the next CPU upgrade I do.

Can someone please educate me?
