An outsider's imagination of what the accounting world is like (after browsing r/accounting for a year)

I’ve been on this sub for over a year now. I’m not an accountant. I took some basic accounting classes for undergrad and grad, but that’s my extent to my knowledge. I follow this sub for office memes. Some of it is really relatable which is why I stick around. I would love to share what the accounting world is like in my imagination lol. I legit don’t know a single accountant IRL

• Big 4 bad.

• If you’re not/or wasnt in a Big 4, you’re probably going to be homeless down the road.

• If you have your CPA, you’re practically a headhunter magnet on LinkedIn.

• NYC, Audit, SM, 37k to 37.2k salary bump

• When somebody leaves their firm and want to become a musician, they are required to send their music to all of their colleagues via email.

• You’re at a party, a hot girl asks you what you do, you reply that you’re in Fuh-nance

• Hah! Depreciating land, get it?

• Something something $5 discrepancy, something something intern being excited about finding it

• “I’m an accountant” “hahaha please do my taxes”

• Or “I’m an accountant” “hahaha you must be good at math”

• Everybody goes in to big 4 with a bright smile and leave jaded after a year or three.

• Should I quit before or after busy season?

• Guys, I finally went to industry and currently make 140k per year with only 35 hrs per week. Updoodles to the left.

• I’m a first year associate and I accidently asked my manager if I could use the bathroom. We work remotely. AMA.

• Credit and debits.

• Pwc >= Big D > EY > KPMG

• Let me circle back on that ask regarding your unlimited PTO

• Yeah I moved to gov, the pay isn’t as good, but I don’t work a minute after 40hrs

• CPA wanted. Starting salary 40k per year

• FIFO or FILO. One of them is the devil, I forget which.

• [Leaked email that makes a firm look bad here]
