Gawr Gura (1/7 scale) by Design Coco

Perfect figure composition for starters. It captures her lore and doesn’t have many noticeable issues. I say noticeable because there are some instances of sloppy paint on some of the finer details, which is unfortunate. Close inspection may disappoint, but at even a distance of 1 foot, the sloppy paint is hard to notice. No matter, because the price was very reasonable and this figure as a whole is pretty impressive. Gura’s hair is done in a pearlescent paint. Her singular open eye is glossy. Her foot legs are unfortunately plastic but seem secure enough. I had some struggles fitting her into the base. The peg that enters a hole atop the conch shell was particularly sketchy to fit in. I feared that would rip the conch right off the base with the pressure I applied. But, I adore the base. The base is the most detailed and well done part of the figure, admittedly. The water effects are a combination of translucent plastic with a mixture of light and dark blues. What brings it home for me is the painted sea foam pattern. About the trident, it may cause paint transfer when slid through Gura’s left hand, but that hardly matters. Bloop is bloop, but I wish there wasn’t such a seam in his bubble. I’m not disappointed with this purchase. I don’t imagine there to be a better Gura scale anytime soon or ever. This figure has been realesed for a few weeks now, and I fear her resell value will skyrocket, so after fast.
