Need some advice on our aquarium.

We set up this aquarium in June of this year. We were told to add the bacteria to the tank and wait for it to get cloudy and it should go away on its own. It got cloudy and did go away and we added 4 fish to the tank. Within 2 days 3 fish had died and we brought a water sample into Petco to see what we can do.

Petco told us the water is fine and to replace 20 percent of the water ever week. Which we have been doing.

It has now been 5 months and the water has not cleared. We bring it in to Petco and they told us everything is fine and it needs to run its course. But I don’t feel like this is normal. They keep telling us to be patient and it will get better but I’m not so sure at this point.

What are your guys thoughts? This doesn’t look normal to me. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this water clean and habitable. The fish that survived is still going strong. But it would be nice to be able to see it.
