why do liberals advocate for undocumented immigrants when many come from conservative or non-progressive backgrounds?

i’ve noticed a lot of immigrants, or their parents, hold extremely racist, misogynistic, homophobic, or transphobic views, often because they come from places where those beliefs are normalized or tied to religion. wouldn’t this be more harmful to marginalized communities in the long run? while it’s unfortunate that some are separated from their families, do we really need to bring in more people with these perspectives?
