Why is dating so god awful in this country?

Or more specifically in Queensland. I’m a guy in my thirties, and present a decent enough package on paper. Decent enough looking to get a lot of matches online, varied interests, educated and a competitive athlete. I don’t drink or consume any substances, and not into the festival/party/rave scene. No moustache or mullet. I’ve never been in a relationship.

The dates I’ve been on have been with mostly European women. I’m just finding the whole dating experience incredibly draining here. Having to carry every single conversation, organise everything, with just very little reciprocation. Go on a couple of dates and just ghosted with no real explanation. People feel so self absorbed in their communication style as well. Somehow the archetypes you encounter online are so homogenous, they may as well be the same person.

Meeting people in real life simply isn’t an option where I live. People say dating is supposed to be fun, but honestly nothing about this enjoyable. When I was in Melbourne for a week it felt alot better, I look pretty European (Mediterranean appearance, like clearly foreign) so maybe I’m just a better fit there, I’m not sure. Any similar experiences?

Edit: clarified that I’m Mediterranean looking, and very culturally diverse. I don’t fit the general appearance in regional QLD.
