New Oven frustrations
Hi, I have a new whirlpool oven and I am finding it hard to get super hot in two different ways.
- I tried to broil creme brulee to char the sugar but the broiler goes off after a few minutes and won't come on again for a while. Even with the oven door cracked open this happens. I went out and bought a torch which worked better, but wtf with the broiler? My past experience with broilers is that they stay on and you have to keep a close eye on the cooking.
- I wanted to cook my pizza at 500, I preheated to about 500 and at 480 I added my pizza and the oven remained at 480. I pressed the temp up button to 500 then pressed start to again tell the oven I wanted 500 degrees. The oven immediately told me the temp was 425 and it did not climb, again wtf? Why does it seem to stop before 500 and why does it go down when I reset it to be 500?
The owners manual did not address any of this and I called the Whirlpool number listed in the manual but all the phone menu options were about service requests, which I don't have yet, just some basic wtf items.
