Why are women so embarrassed/angry about farting publicly?

I find it really funny myself and have let off some gas before. A recent one was at this mall after a movie when I farted audibly but accidentally and the women next to me weren’t impressed at all.

They were making angry faces and the girl I was on a date with was embarrassed herself. I am somewhat of a gym freak and protein makes you fart a lot, but it’s not like i am justifying it but why do women make such a big deal out of it in general? It’s a natural part of being human and it can be funny too at times.

Why is there such a big difference in how men perceive it vs how women perceive it? EDIT: I just wish to understand the difference in attitudes of men vs women when it comes to this. Why are some of you making this so personal?
