How many LEO/agencies actually train martial arts?
Pretty straightforward question. I've met and known a fee law enforcement officers who actually train martial arts like BJJ, wrestling, kickboxing etc. For health but also for practical use. Wondering how many officers actually train on their own time or if their agency actually has a legitimate program for their officers?
While resisting or combating LEO is never a smart idea, I've had friendly sparring matched with some officers that were bigger than me by over 30lbs. Their performance/ability in restraining and defending against submissions wasn't the most impressive. Granted i understand most things taught are with the common scenario in mind that they're more likely to be in an altercation with someone who has no clue what they're doing.
But what do you guys train in? What dies the agency provide if anything at all even if its a local instructor to work specific training?
