Cohabiting couples- how much time do you spent with your significant other?
This question has popped up for me after some conversations we've had with other married couples we know.
Me and my wife have lived together for nearly 15 years now and have been married for 9. We've got two kids (5 and 2). In a normal week, once the kids are in bed we'll spend most evenings doing something together. I'm a film fan and I also like sports so I may go to the cinema one evening a week or spend an evening watching football/NFL (which my wife has no interest in) but most other nights we'll be doing something together, even if just sitting on the sofa watching TV. We've always been like this, even pre kids.
I kind of thought this was the norm but I've been surprised by how many couples seem to spend minimal time actually doing something together. Either one of them is out most evenings or they are in different rooms doing different things (watching different shows or gaming for example) and actually rarely spend their free time together.
I realise some people don't have that much shared free time (ie people who work different shift patterns) but I'm interested to know if others do the same as us or if splitting off in the evenings is more the norm?
