Top Sheet Debate

Hey y'all! I've noticed more and more people are skipping the top sheet altogether when making a bed and am curious to hear the subs' thoughts.

Personally, I've always used the top sheet as well because that's how I was taught to make a bed and find it difficult to "break the rules" even though I'm 36 and live in my own home.

For those that don't use one, what do you do with all those unused top sheets from your sheet sets? Is it more economical to buy a set planning to discard 1 part, or to buy the fitted sheet and pillow cases a la cart?
