What are our thoughts on Trump's recent announcement that migrants will be deported to... Guantanamo Bay?
According to multiple news agencies and wire services, I've been able to verify Trump is ordering the preparation of a massive Guantanamo Bay detention facility for "30,000 migrants" to be deported to "ASAP." The "reason" Trump has given for this is that "he has concerns about these people coming back after being deported the first time." This seems a problem that "doesn't go away" so are we creating a taxpayer-funded penal colony abroad to permanently house these people... forever? What would even be the vision here, and is there any rational thought behind this? This seems a burden for US armed forces as an absolute minimum level of critique... the US military is not purpose-built today to operate foreign penal colonies.
