Barbecue argument with my girlfriend. Tell me I’m not crazy.

I’m from Texas and she’s from Memphis. Her and her friends prefer Memphis barbecue which is fine but are denying Texas barbecue is barbecue at all. Says brisket isn’t “real barbecue”. I feel like I’m talking to crazy people. Can someone tell me who is right here?
