Do people really wash all of baby’s clothes first?

I’m 32 weeks pregnant, and I’m working on trying to get the house in order and maintain it until baby’s arrival when I’m sure we’ll have visitors. I want to do as much as I can now before I get any bigger and feel more tired.

Anyway, baby boy already has a pretty full closet. I bought some from consignment stores like Once Upon a Child, and I washed those of coarse. Does everyone wash all of baby’s new from the store clothes before he is born? Is it just so it’s softer?
