Oathbreaker Knight scammed me out of 1k gold

Broke my oath trying to help Sazza out of the cage on my Honor mode run. I went “Oh well” and saved up the 1k gold to regain my oath. I paid the knight his gold and went through the cutscene and everything, but once it was over I was still an Oathbreaker and hadn’t regained any of my previous oath spells. Additionally, the knight disappeared and I still have the “Oathbraker” tag on my character. Withers also acknowledges that I’ve broken my oath so I’m not able to respecc out of it. Seeing as the game still thinks I’m an Oathbreaker, is there any way to get my oath back via save file fuckery, or do I have to live with my choices?
