Second Dream Guardian scene dialogue weirdness

My character just got visited by the Dream Guardian for the second time, and I'm left a bit confused. They talked about Halsin choosing not to try to remove the tadpole and saying it is infused with magic, but neither of those things have happened in my playthrough. Then afterwards, some of the other party members were saying the Dream Guardian offered a new power, "another generous reward," but that wasn't mentioned at all during my character's conversation with the DG. Laezel's phrasing of "another" reward also puzzles me because I don't remember the DG offering one during the first visit outside of general protection. What's going on?
