Solo American traveling to Bangkok

Recently separated, just want to get away. Heading to Bangkok for month followed by Bali for a month. 52, working on start-up project, not looking to party. Chose Airbnb in Khlong San close to BTS Thonburi. Really just want to work, walk around, eat, immerse myself in local culture.

Figured quieter and more local scene but can get across the river easily. Won't be far walk to Charoen Nakhon.

Can I get some restaurant and bar recommendations in the area?

Don't speak thai but will try to pick up a few sayings before arriving. Will be there Feb 1 to Feb 29 then Mar 31 to Apr 2 after visiting Bali.

Sounds like I should expect to use cash nearly 100% of the time?

What are 3-4 must do things beyond Khlong San....2nd time in Bangkok was only there 1.5 days previously though.
