Does slapping backboard on layups actually change anything?
I have recently noticed I’ve been finishing more aggressively, taking contact better and not focusing so much on putting spin on the ball rather than just straight up finishing since I’ve been smacking backboard on my layups. I’m 6’1 with a 6’6 reach so it’s not hard to get to backboard or rim but until recently when I tried I would always jump too hard focusing on smacking the backboard rather than finishing causing me to hit the ball off the glass too hard or just simply pinning myself lol, so I was always more of a finesse finisher. I’m not sure how I adjusted other than just repetitions but I feel confident now I have fully rounded out my finishing and can make a layup under any circumstance. I’m just curious if this is some sort of placebo effect (idk if that’s the correct term here) or if there’s a legitimate reason to slap backboard.
