might get downvoted but this last kiki..
i read a previous post before giving the episode a listen and can’t help but feel a bit surprised at their blasé attitude towards the criticism/concerns. i’d consider myself a somewhat long term listener at this point and hearing troy’s reaction said a lot.
kelli has been receiving fairly regular criticism for a while now, so she’s “used to it” to a degree, for a lack of a better term. troy seemed really offended by it though. i say this as someone who responds to criticism/feedback in a similar fashion. him saying we were “deeply hurt” by him referencing an incorrect movie from the brad pitt episode seems super reductive..
it’s like he’s fixating on the wrong thing in order to divert from the problem at hand? we’re not hating on him or kelli by any means, i think they’re really fun and great and brave for making a podcast about pop culture. i didn’t think troy would be so opposed to feedback though.. i understand it must be tough to be scrutinized on such a level as he is, however it feels like he doesn’t value our opinions as listeners despite the fact that some of us have a financial stake in this?
you don’t have to address everything all the time or take it to heart, but to make light of genuine concerns that haven’t even been brought up in a hateful way seems so “mean girl” to me? i understand we don’t have to listen, but it’s shocking that many of these posts on this sub (which bring up really valid points) are taken as whiny and overly judgmental; it doesn’t sit right with me.
still a patreon subscriber so i’m hoping it’ll get better. just feeling blah about the situation. ❤️🩹
