pap smear issues, is it just me?

I recently went for my pap smear test and I don't know if I'm reading too much into this or is it racial prejudice. Every 3 years I have to go for a pap smear just for health reasons. And my first pap smear was with a gynecologist who did a deep dive to determine what size speculum I needed based on my partners or lack of penetration sex.

That doctor has now retired and for the past two pap smears I've gone to my family doctor who's also new and I have told her as well as the other practitioner who has performed that my previous ones have all been with the small speculum. And they proceed to use the large one despite me not having any children or penetration sex and wonder why I'm tense and it hurts. And then switching to the small speculum is this because I'm black and they think that what?

They say it hurts because I'm tense and I'm like no it hurts because it feels like it's tearing. Even an hour's later I'm sitting down and it hurts.

Am I reading too much into this or has this ever happened to anybody else. Do they believe because I'm black I have a larger vagina or what?
