I think expecting a teenager who has an obvious mood/personality disorder to react the same to trauma as characters who don’t suffer from those things is insane.

Like people with mood/personality disorders usually have to go through extensive therapy and medications to function the way everyone else does for a reason. Like mental illness isn’t just some cutesy quirky little trait, it is something that fucks with almost all aspects of your life and how you perceive the world around you.

This rant is mostly just responding to people who compare Lizzie’s trauma responses and disordered behavior to characters like shan, gibs, and Joey. Like why would a character with untreated bipolar disorder or BPD (ik there’s debate ab which one she’s suffering from bc of the playlists) behave in the same fashion that people w/o disorder do? It’s called a disorder for a reason.
