Should mid-range brawlers (Nita,Sandy,etc. ) bring shield gadget?

I've been trying to climb Nita for a while, and I've experimented with shield gear for a while. The thing about this gear is that on paper, it changes a lot of interactions,most notably against assassins. In practice though, I'm just not sure whether it provides enough value to be used over the other gears, and it's really hard to test it out in a controlled environment. Edit: changed gadget to gear.
