Our collective 'unbiased' rankings ahead of championship games

To start, I'd like to thank everyone for the awesome comments on my post earlier in the week. I got a lot of great feedback on the tool and it was cool to see how excited people were. All up, we got over 23,000 quiz results!! Naturally, I took the averages and compiled them into a ranking:

Rank Team
1 Oregon
2 Texas
3 SMU
4 Penn State
5 Georgia
6 Ohio State
7 Notre Dame
8 Boise State
9 Indiana
10 Tennessee
11 Alabama
12 Miami

Brought to you by CFB Ranking. See full results here.

The most controversial question was:

  • Green is 10-2 and would be favored by 7.5 against Blue on a neutral field.
  • Blue is 12-0.

People leaned slightly towards 'Blue' overall on that one. I'll follow up with a more detailed breakdown of each question and its distribution of answers.

In the meantime, keep up with your rankings this weekend. I'll get the data updated with the games as they finish. Also check out some of the improvements I made to the site this week!

  • You can now create a very very simple account (no password or anything - just an email) to save your weighted criteria that you create. I'll also save quiz results to those profiles soon but haven't had a chance to build it yet.
  • If you select your favorite team on that account it'll highlight them in your rankings and change the UI for you :)
  • Fixed many bugs reported in the last post. Not the mobile Safari browser yet though unfortunately.
  • You can copy markup (like the table above) for posting to reddit.

Finally, just a note that this is a nights and weekends kind of thing for me, but it hit decent volume with the last post. It's possible you'll see some downtime if there's a similar surge from this post. Please let me know about it but also be patient with me - not trying to spend a ton of money on servers for this thing.
