Double points

Is it just me or have double points only been only dropping(at least on earlier rounds) at the very end of the rounds and never in the middle of beginning. I'v played probably like 100-200 games and one of the most consistent things I've noticed is that. Maybe I'm hallucinating but lemme know if y'all have been feeling this
