Game unpaused after the 15 mins while I was away and instead of exiting the match It simply unpaused the game

I rarely let the 15 minute timer go off but I was surprised to hear the sound of my character getting swarmed and dying while I was scrolling on my phone. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
