Dream you having a flashback within the dream?

This has happened a few times and I’m very curious if anyone else has experienced this. In this dream there was something that caused dream me to have a flashback and it was exactly like having a full blown one in waking life. But I didn’t wake up from it. The whole thing has always been very strange to me and I’m curious if this is a common experience!
