Seeking advice on how to build clientele

I’m a 27 year old carpenter that’s been working trades since my dad could teach me to swing a hammer and have worked exclusively for companies doing the work I love with some side jobs for family and friends, but I want to start doing more on my own and begin building a reliable/steady influx of jobs to become more independent from strictly working for a company. What would be some of the steps required to start my own business and what could I do to start getting my name out there for people to start coming to me for work?
