My two cats come to me when I fake meow

It's like a meow that sounds realistic but not quite, a human could tell. I used to do it very well when I was a child but of course, puberty. It sounds like a shaky fake meow, but realistic enough to not notice until the second meow.

They stare at me when I do it, and if I look at them and do it loud enough they come running to me. No matter what they're doing, they come to me. I've started using it as a call. Usually their tails go straight up, in the happy way. If they're busy playing, they'll come over and see what I want for a couple seconds, then they run back to playing with each other.

They're 6 - 7 months old BTW:) I can't tell if they think it sounds similar enough to a real meow so they want to come since they think I want attention or something, or they think I'm making a weird noise and get curious Any explanations? I'm just curious, I think it's cute.
