I don't think a number of you still understand what's going on with Denji

This quote from this content creator. Is what's going on. The person in this video isn't Jay D Legend. It's actually Fujimoto himself saying this. Fujimoto is as good as you like him to be because of what's being said here. Because Fujimoto has an agenda for himself and carries it out. And it works everytime. Because Fujimoto is Denji.

Okay from the beginning. From the absolute beginning of the story. In the first chapter. In the first battle. When the pages first lengthened even. Fujimoto has always written Denji with one purpose. One agenda. One goal in mind. To Self. Insert. Himself. And he's done that through Denji.

Thats the bottom line. With some other things sprinkled here and there about heroism but I digress it's why we like Denji. He's got everyday problems in a not at all ordinary situation. Hes got the same problems we have fundamentally albiet his are to a worse extreme. He is Fujimoto and we like the fact Fujimoto tried to levitate, ate a pet goldfish, is a complete foodnut, and has horrible luck with women but hes actually really into it. He is a real person and thus Denji feels like a real person. Some folks can even relate to him. And the way he approaches everything has always been simplistic of mind. Fujimoto himself is no different. Fujimoto has always been motivated by simple materialistic things and it's no different than what Denji is motivated by.

What people don't understand isn't what I just mentioned it's the fact Denji will not change. Will not "grow" into anything else. We want him to change becaude if we're in that situation we would want ourselves to change. Or we would want someone else to do better for themselves for what we think is better for themselves. But that's the problem. We're not Fujimoto. Fujimoto does not want to change. Fujimoto does not want to "grow" in the way we think he wants to grow. Wether or not it's because he can't or because he just doesn't want to isnt as much the point. It's going to result in the same outcome

The same outcome being why he acts like a dog. Why even though he gets sexually abused and assaulted and admittedly shows discomfort to these acts hell still comply with it anyway. Because as long as it's a hot woman doing these things to him, he's more than okay with going along with it. He doesn't actively pursue these things but he won't or can't reject them if they occur because of who he is.

Denji is unapologetically Fujimoto. And Fujimoto is unapologetically himself. What this will result in how Denji reacts to things specifically in the future of the story and wether or not you find this interesting is a different discussion. But it's what's happening and I just want people to understand. The brilliance here is it absolutely works to keep readers engaged. We're either glad Denji has never changed or we're completely outraged. And not knowing why can be the reason why people continue to invest into it so they can figure out why that is. Wether that means you hate him or the story or love him or the story for it is up to you. As the reader it should be clear to you at this point that he won't "change". Fujimoto has an agenda in mind and will simplistcally and relentlessly live out that very thing no matter what happens. And this by extension applies to Denji.
