What can you do about early-game barbarians?

Almost every time i get a good spawn going and i am having fun, an entire army of barbs just shows up to clean me off the map. This time they showed up with catapults, which is insane

I know the drill, remove all the camps before they get a chance and don’t let scouts get away but it still just happens. Is there actually anything else you can do?
