Is £300 good compensation??? England
Hi So I was billed £53 for a service I didn’t use by a broadband provider, as I never got the modem/device. I called and they said they would wipe the bill as I told them I no longer wanted their service.
They didn’t clear the bill as agreed and ended up reporting me to a debt collector who did a search on my credit which affected my credit score or a chance to get any credit elsewhere.
After all the back and forth I have been offered a £300 compensation or I can further escalate to the ombudsman.
This whole incident to compensation took around 4 or 5 months.
Is £300 good compensation considering this isn’t even a service I used?
Would the ombudsman award me more as compensation if I escalate?
Legally, if I agreed over the phone to the £390 and got a cheque but didn’t cash it, can I change my mind about the amount and go to the ombudman?
Thanks
