Most effective way to strip paint off brick

We have a brick wall which seems to have layers of paint on it going back quite a while. Im testing out the best ways to strip it being effective, and least damaging.

We've tried paint stripper, but with the many layers it takes a long while and leaves behind a lot.

Advice?
