PSA - There are no real dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. There never has been.

Every time Jurassic Park pops up, whether there is a new release or just out of the blue, I see the same repeated posts about how realistic the dinosaurs are, that there shouldn't be mutants or hybrids, that they should go back to "real dinosaurs".

There has never been real dinosaurs in the movies. That is the point. They are genetically engineered theme park attractions created using incomplete and damaged dinosaur DNA. It is explicitly said many times. It is one of two major plot points and driver of the story, that they can change sex due to their frog DNA. Just like the real-life fox breeding experiment, a single gene controls many things, so the dinos in the novels and films are likely very different from their real life counterpart.

I know we get excited about dinosaurs, but we can't let our fervor get in the way of media literacy.
