How long do I give it?

I picked up the game because it appears in so many threads about the best story driven games. Not trying to bash it because I know there's a lot of love for it, but I'm really not liking the game. The playstyle, visuals, and overall feel of the game are not for me. Just wondering how long everyone thinks I should play to say I've given it a fair chance to let the story and game really get going? I'm really feeling like bailing after the first couple hours but I want to respect the number of people who have called it a masterpiece and at least say I gave it an honest try.
