Dynasty Deep Dive #1 Maye Day

Team: Maye Day

League settings: 12-team, SF, 0.5ppr, 0.5tep

1. Current Team

Maye Day plays in a start 9 league, his current roster is:

QB: Drake Maye, Jared Goff, JJ McCarthy, Trey Lance, Jake Haener

RB: Jonathan Brooks, Audric Estime, Ray Davis, Tyler Allgeier, Sean Tucker, Emmanuel Wilson, Emari Demercado, Trey Sermon, Julius Chestnut, Raheem Blackshear

WR: Justin Jefferson, Puka Nacua, Jaxson Smith Njigba, Drake London, Jalen Coker, Jermaine Burton, Javon Baker, Jalen Nailor, Jacob Cowing, Bub Means, Ryan Flournoy

TE: Brock Bowers, Tucker Kraft, Michael Mayer, Grant Calcaterra, Stone Smartt

2025 Picks: 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 1.06, 1.07, 1.09

2. Roster review for your team

This team is loaded with incredible wide receiver talent and is a great example of a productive struggle done correctly, finishing 10th despite having multiple studs. The biggest need is obviously running back, which is great because this class has plenty of talent in that department. You do not need to touch your wide receiver core, unless you want to add a decent 5th option, but in start 9 this is less important. With Bowers and Kraft at tight end (both of whom I have graded as top 10 dynasty TEs), you are set up for long term success.

This league has several teams that would make good trade partners, primarily I would look at the Shaguars (who have no premium picks and finished 11th), as well as EasyE’s who also have no premium picks, no premium talent and are in need of a rebuild after missing the playoffs.

3. Draft/trade thoughts

The one thing you want to avoid is making all six first round picks, I believe you should trade at least half of these away. I would trade 1.02 and 1.03 (you do not need Tet McMillan or a younger QB). Here are three trades I would consider making.

  • Add a proven QB in a high scoring offense

EasyEs Receives: 1.09, Audric Estime

Maye Day Receives: Baker Mayfield

  • Upgrade at running back, trade with a team in Limbo

The Shaguars Receive: 1.06, 1.07

Maye Day Receives: Jonathan Taylor, David Montgomery, 2026 2nd round pick (a 3rd is fine)

  • Take a big swing at QB

BrianRufener Receives: 1.02, 1.09, JJ Mccarthy (they may want more, if so gauge his willingness to deal Mahomes)

Maye Day Receives: Joe Burrow

You have a ton of assets and even with a barren running back room, there is plenty of opportunity to improve. I would look to package draft picks and snag proven running back talent, as well as tier up at quarterback using the 1.02 to trade with a team that has no chance at contention. I would try to figure out how MPittz feels about the Seattle duo and see if there might be an opportunity to get both Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet.

If you trade away 2-3 draft picks, I would be looking at taking 3 first round running backs, preferably whoever the Chargers draft, Omarion Hampton, Kaleb Johnson, the OSU duo, and Nick Singleton who continues to play well in the College Football Playoffs. Draft capital will be everything for these guys but you will have your pick of talented rookies who can help immediately. Just try to avoid going into the season with a rookie in both your starting RB slots.

Cut candidates: Raheem Blackshear, Julius Chestnut, Bub Means

4. Team grade/contender status

Pre Draft Grade: B

This team is super talented, but the lack of an elite fantasy QB (Maye could become this), as well as little to no running back talent. If you end up with a running back room of JT/Kaleb Johnson/David Montgomery/Treveyon Henderson/Nick Singleton you are an easy favorite for the title.

Contender Status: First round bye
