Just bought the game and can't stop playing it
What I found from playing this game is you can't stop progressing until you say "okay that's good enough, BUT WHAT'S THAT THO?" and keep playing it instead lol.
So I totally understand the addictions and the amount of praise people give to this game. I get it. I neglect on it because some people said the game is too hard, but as a casual I can say for sure this game really punish you for not levelling up.
Not so far into the game, I just beat Renalla and currently messing around in caelid, and here is my takes so far (it could change in the future who knows?, so if you disagree with this, I completely understand, for I'm indeed an elder ring's newbie) :
the game isn't really a "git gud" game.
PROS: anyone can enjoy this game, no need to put the long face to beat a single boss, when I explore more, the stronger I become, such rewarding, love it. No matter what people call it "cheese" or "summons spammer", the game let you do it, and you bought it at full price, the game is yours, play it however you want.
CONS: as someone who played sekiro as his first fromsoftware games, so far I find it a little bit meh, just a litte bit (again it might change in the future, idk..) but being harder doesn't make it better. Elden Ring has it's own charm, it reminds me a lot of Dark souls 1, the game feels like a journey.

PROS : smooth sailing for anyone (me) who loves the hot keys funtions, a little different from it's predecessors. Since you got a horse and a map now.
CONS : someone who only use their thumbs and index fingers playing games would find a little bit of discomfort especially in the early games, margit would totally slap you hard. Even I a monhun freak find it a little bit confusing at one point. But it actually depends on what you are using tho, if it just a flask and one handed weapon or you don't use any of the ashes of war or finger seals or magics etc. There will be only like three different buttons you need to press, consecutively.
visuals, world building, art etc.
FUCKING NAILED IT, I wanna live there.
musics, yes I separate this one.
Love the main menu song, other than that, the predecessor had it better, bloodborne is a fucking musical festival, ds3's firelink shrine, soul of cinder's theme, abyss watcher's theme, gwyn's theme etc etc...you get me...the atmosphere here in elden ring is a bit meh, all I heard was my screaming when Renalla keep shooting that stupid laser beam.
CONCLUSION
It deserve the GOTY, or maybe deserve more.
