FINALLY got my ring back!!

After months going back and forth I finally decided to completely redo my wedding set. Absolutely in love with it!!!! I wanted it set lower because I kept hitting my last ring on things as it was higher up. But in doing so, it creates a little gap between the e ring and wedding band. Should I leave the gap or have the jeweler shave down a tiny bit of metal on one of the prongs to flatten the bottom out? I don’t want to make a notch on the wide band as I will wear it alone sometimes.
