Developer looking to build something similar to glove80 for cheaper. Recommendations?

Hi All,

I’m looking to upgrade to an ergo mechanical keyboard from my current situation which is pretty sad. For a number of years I’ve been using the Microsoft sculpt keyboard (I know). I previously was on das keyboard with mx brown switches but various hand and wrist issues led me to the sculpt which I can really fly on now.

There are some major issues with the sculpt:

  1. The build quality is terrible, I’ve gone through like 8 of them in 5 years

  2. The wireless connection lags often

  3. The overall typing experience is meh

I’m looking to try out something like the glove80 but I can solder myself. I just don’t have a 3d printer to go the whole 9 yards. Looking for recs on a tented unit with key wells. I like the idea of the choc low profile switches as well. Wired would be good, there’s a chance the lagging on the sculpt is due to my router being right next to the machine. Is there any kit along those lines? I’m on Linux + vim.
