Any basic advice?

Any basic advice for starting out the process of home buying / expectations? I’m 29. I’ve been working just 1 year now because I was finishing a higher level degree and I have quite a bit of student loan debt but I’ve saved 15k this year. I just don’t know how much I should try to save before starting the home search? Like what are people putting down on a first time home in the 180-250k range? (Midwest) thx!
