2011 ford fusion.

My mothers fusion has an exhaust leak. I can tell by the smell its before the cats. Just below the manifold is a U clamp and im wondering if that might be it? Whatever it is it has set off the check engine light so I assume the air/fuel mixture is getting affected. Im not a grease monkey by any means when it comes to these cars. Any help is appreciated.
