After all, in the future, will we have two AI subscriptions to pay for?

I’m a future ex-user of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. I’ve had a Galaxy before, but I hated the squared corners. This new approach with rounded corners brought me back. I’m happy to return to the S-Pen (I don’t mind the Bluetooth case), the 100x zoom (yes, it’s ugly, but I love it!), and finally get to experience a real AI assistant (sorry, Apple, you’re way behind).

I know that the Gemini 2.0 integrated into the device will start being charged after six months. I also know that subscribing includes 2TB of Google storage. I’m willing to pay, but after watching some videos and gathering information, I found out that Samsung is expected to start charging for AI in 2026.

I have some questions, though it might be too early to ask, but here we go anyway:

  1. Will I be required to pay for two AI services on the same phone? I mean, Gemini assistant and other Samsung AI services.
  2. If so, which services belong to which company? For example, photo editing, audio noise reduction, now bar, etc. I understand there’s an option to run AI locally on the device, which I assume won’t involve additional charges.
  3. If someone stops paying for the Gemini 2.0 service, does the free Gemini 1.5 version take over as a replacement?
  4. What are the downgrades of Gemini 1.5 compared to the paid 2.0 version?
