1080ti to a 4060?

So I know like nothing about building a gaming pc, but I would like to try seeing how I need a upgrade. I have a MSI laptop that has a 1080ti in it and I was wondering: would it be worth it to upgrade to something like the 4060 or 4060ti and build the pc for it or not. If it is I have no idea what parts I should go with for compatibility with the 4060. And if it isn't I don't know what graphics card I should go with. I don't want to spend a crazy amount of money seeing as I'm on a tight budget
