Salty antlion sword VS Morning star

I have both of these weapons. the problem is, my antlion greatsword is level 7 salty, while my morning star is only level 2. The great sword sweeps in combat compared to the morning star, despite people saying the morning star is better. Is it worth it to start upgrading my morning star instead of the great sword, and get a new great sword with a different flavor on it? I don't know which weapon is going to be more powerful when i put the effort into it.
