Clinical vs Research Setting..

Hey everyone. So recently I’ve decided to switch jobs and focus my histology career in a new direction (working with patient tissue). I currently work in a research setting and deal with animal tissue. Worked in a necropsy department at the same company for 2 years and then moved on to histology. I’ve only been doing histology as a whole for about 2 years now (no cert). Got an interview for a clinical setting and during it (and through emails) the supervisor kept stressing to me that the world of clinical histology is VERY different from research. Which I understand, more pressure and tighter timelines to get to patients, more specialized tasks. Makes sense. Where I’m at now, I don’t have a lot of opportunities to perform special stains, or any IHC/EM/ISH etc….. really need a change for myself… but the way she’s stressing it to me makes me kind of scared lol. Although I think I’m ready for it… Curious on everyone’s biggest pro’s and con’s on working in a clinical setting? And maybe some comparisons from those who’ve worked in both settings? Thanks y’all! 🔬💜
