Why don’t people appreciate brick homes anymore?

I see so many people who paint their brick homes or want to get rid of the brick on their homes and use much cheaper vinyl siding. This always surprises me as I feel brick exteriors are some of the most timeless, charming, and strongest materials out there. Why don’t people appreciate good masonry work anymore?
