Builder Delays and Questionable Wiring – Need Advice
My wife and I had a custom home built and closed on November 1st. Tomorrow marks three months since closing, and we still have a long list of unresolved punch list items. To be fair, winter weather has occasionally made access difficult, but three months still feels excessive. Is this typical?
One issue that particularly concerns me is how they handled the low-voltage wiring. All the coax and Cat-5 cables were run outside the house and left unterminated—just bare wires hanging out of the exterior wall. When I questioned the builder, he insisted this was standard practice and that the cable company is responsible for connecting them. However, in my previous two homes, all low-voltage wiring was terminated inside in a structured wiring panel or low-voltage box.
Is my builder just trying to wash his hands of the issue? Has anyone else encountered this, and how was it resolved?
