Confusion with diagnosis
Hi all! So I ended up in the ER for abdominal pain twice then finally got admitted for 4. I went because I woke up one morning I had excruciating abdominal pain and began vomiting excessively. Once the diarrhea started I noticed a red tint but didn’t focus too much on it because of the pain. After a few hours it became clear that this was just blood coming out at this point. I went to the er and the found colitis on my CT scan..I’ve never had the amount of pain and vomiting/blood that I did that day.. I got a bunch of tests done and in my colonoscopy they didn’t see any inflammation on the biopsies, but only did two. I had several ulcers in my intestines that they said looked like more like crohns than UC because of where they were located..but since there was no inflammation in the biopsy they don’t think that’s what it is. My bloodwork showed my inflammation markers and autoimmune markers to be high. When I followed up with GI, they basically told me to continue taking 80mg of pantoprazole daily to heal the ulcers and that it may take up to 3 months to heal. I still have symptoms but not as bad as when I was in the hospital for that week. It’s very up and down. I’m getting a follow up colonoscopy next week finally to check and do more biopsies. They mentioned maybe ischemic colitis but said it’s unlikely because of my age. Has anyone ever had this happen and end up still being diagnosed with IBD. I’m just feeling so lost and I hate not having clear answers. Not knowing and just being scared of something happening again is stressing me out. Thanks in advance for the help everyone ♥️ just feel so worried and lost. I’m wondering if this is just the beginning or if I’ve possibly had it before with less severe flare ups. I was diagnosed with IBS and have definitely had pain but nothing close to this. I also have had a lot of other IBD symptoms like fatigue, joint pain, random mouth ulcers, urgent bathroom trips or not being able to go at all. Thanks for listening everyone! I hope someone could provide some tips and maybe relate. 🙏🏻
