Cultural Divide Between Central And Southern Indiana?
Hi,
I was born and raised in Evansville and moved to Indianapolis in 2015 and I feel like as a state we don’t talk about the massive cultural divide between what people consider to be “Indiana.”
For example, pork tenderloins were never a part of my life growing up, nor was I ever aware they were popular. Similarly, Pizza King in Southern Indiana is known for their iconic monster strombolis and not much else. Never really saw anyone get excited for the Indy 500, and a whole bunch of other things I could go on and on about.
Does anyone else who was born outside of Central Indiana feel this same experience? It makes me feel like our identity as a state is fabricated by a small chunk of Central Indiana and that’s not the actual reality elsewhere but I could be wrong.
