Having customer get items from your car?

Is this a normal practice? I am the customer it is raining so I left my garage open for delivery. My driveway is a few feet from garage. But my driver had me get items from his car. My husband was home so he came too. But it seemed odd? But if it’s not I’ll know for the future .
